Since she was a child, Irum Afshar has had a deep love for design, and an astute talent for creating beautiful and intricate needlework. Having experimented with various different art forms since her graduation, it was inevitable that Irum would eventually come back to embroidery to build her own brand. In 2009, Irum set-up a full-fledged workshop at home, employing a team of 6 artisans consisting of a tailor, a fabricator and 4 embroiderers. Together, the team launched a line under the label ‘LifeFabric’, initially manufacturing a wide variety of products ranging from formal and bridal wear to personal and home accessories. Today, LifeFabric largely concentrates on hand embroidered personal and home accessories, with a dedication to producing bright and beautiful products, ranging from beautiful pillows and cushions to stylish purses and handbags. The underlying inspiration behind every item LifeFabric has ever produced is one of folk art, and particularly the folk art of the subcontinent.
