Deigh Ottoman

by paimona

Inspired by a 'deigh' - traditionally used to cook large volumes of food - this Deigh Ottoman is for people who like to experiment. This unique piece has a red steel body and a dusky gold seat, embellished with embroidery and mirror-work. The upholstery for this piece is made by women in Thar, a desert region in Sindh. These women embroider the design by hand with painstaking detail and skill. Resham (silk) thread is used to make the entire upholstery. The structure of the ottoman is made from metal, which is carved out into the shape of deigh, and then powder coated to give it the fiery red finish.
